Port Blair, Jan 9: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has taken up the issue of non-release of two month’s salary to teachers working in the education department under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, the Member of Parliament mentioned that teachers working in the education department under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan are facing severe financial hardships as they have not received their salaries for the past two months.

New Delhi, Jan 9: Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency attended the meeting today at New Delhi chaired by Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, Shri Nitin Gadkari alongwith Hon’ble Minister of State, General Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, ADC to review the status of National Highways Authority of India Projects undertaken by National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) in various States/UTs. Discussions were held on the status of National Highways in A&N Islands and directions for early resolution in providing better connectivity and infrastructure were issued.

Teressa (Nicobar), Jan 9: Shri Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member of BJP and Former State President BJP-ANI, hoisted the Party flag at Khalasi village in Terresa Island. The event was attended by Shri E.S Rajesh, District President of Nicobar BJP, Shri Wilson Zachariah (Kalasi Captain), Shri Reuben (2nd Captain) and tribal people from various villages adding to the significance of the flag hoisting event. This is the first time ever for any political party to hoist its flag in this village.

New Delhi, Jan 9: The CPI(M) has strongly objected to the recommendation on the concept of One Nation, One Election, mentioning that the High Level Committee’s agenda and purpose is pre-decided and pre-destined.

In a letter to the Secretary, High Level Committee – One Nation, One Election, the General Secretary CPI(M) Shri Sitaram Yechury stated:

“At the outset we would like to register our strong objection to the manner in which the concept of “One Nation, One Election” is being sought to be imposed.
