Port Blair, March 19: The Election Commission of India has notified the General Election 2024 to the Parliamentary Constituency of A & N Islands, which shall be going to poll in the first phase on 19.04.2024. As per the schedule of Elections, the filing of nominations shall start from 20.3.2024 to 27.03.2024 in the Office of the Returning Officer, A & N Parliamentary Constituency (Dy. Commissioner Office South Andaman).

Port Blair, March 19: On 18.03.2024, on tip off poaching of wildlife protected species, a raiding team was swiftly constituted lead by SI G Mohan Rao, SHO PS Humfrygunj alongwith PCs M Sudarsana Rao, Raja and Eshan Mondal. The raiding team conducted raid at Fish landing center, Guptapara and apprehend one person namely Mohan Kumar S/o Ram Lakhan (30) yrs R/o Memyo, Wandoor and recovered 36 kgs Venison meat, 9.3 kgs Wild Boar meat and 8.7 kgs of turtle meat from a wooden engine dinghy plying by him and the recovered wild life species meat and dinghy were seized at the spot.

Port Blair, March 19: In view of the ensuing General Election 2024 Lok Sabha, the Model Code of Conduct has come into force. All applications relating to advertisements/banners/posters/election pamphlets and other publicity materials to be printed in print and electronic media may be sent to Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) for its approval. Concerned person/Political Parties may submit their application to the Member, MCMC, Shri K. Port Blair, March 19: With the announcement of General Elections-2024 by the Election Commission of India on 16/03/2024, the Model Code of Conduct has come into force with immediate effect.

In this regard, the Election Commission of India has issued the following instructions to regulate road shows to avoid any inconvenience to the general public/commuters during road shows which is detailed as under :-

Port Blair, March 19: In view of the Parliamentary Election 2024, the general public have been informed that the Election Commission of India has prescribed special provisions in addition to the normal provisions for voting by Voters belonging to the Senior Citizen (85+ years), Persons with Disabilities (Benchmark Disability 40% and above) and COVID affected categories, who cannot vote in person at their respective Polling Stations.
