Port Blair, March 17: The Seventh review meeting of Child Welfare Committee (South Andaman) for the 7th quarter (October 2020 to December 2020) was conducted under the Chairmanship of District Magistrate/Deputy Commissioner (SA) to review the pendency of cases and the issues pertaining to the welfare of children of South Andaman which was attended by the Chairperson and Member(s) of the Child Welfare Committee, South Andaman.

Chennai, March 17:  On March 12, the Hawaii-based United States Air Force Band of the Pacific released a music video featuring its virtual musical collaboration with Giridhar Udupa, an acclaimed Indian percussion artist who plays the ghatam, one of India’s most ancient percussion instruments.  The collaboration was inspired by the band’s commitment to support Aero India 2021, and reinforces the U.S.-India Major Defense Partnership and people-to-people ties between our countries.

Port Blair, March 16: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Minister of Education, Govt. of India, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal to grant reservation to the law graduates of Andaman & Nicobar Islands in the National Law Universities of India for pursuing LLM Courses. Sharma mentioned that since the first batch of Andaman Law College students will become graduates in the current academic year 2021, many of them will aspire to pursue LLM. The Andaman Law College imparts only B.A., LL.B. degree course and the passing out Law Graduates of the Islands will have to qualify as candidates belonging to General Category under Central Government All India Quota in the All India centralized examination namely ‘Common-Law Admission Test for Post Graduate.

Port Blair, March 16: The National Rural Livelihood Mission aims to alleviate rural poverty and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for the rural poor especially for rural women. The basic idea behind this programme is to unite the poor into Self Help Group and make them capable for self-employment.

Smti. Hemlata Bala is one such beneficiaries under the NRLM scheme. A resident of Tugapur of Mayabunder she is associated with a Self Help Group namely Sreemoi. She has joined this SHG for the purpose of initiating self-employment, so that she could support her family financially.
