Port Blair, Oct. 30: The last date for submission of online application forms for admission to Two Years B.Ed. Degree Programme for the academic session 2022-23 in Tagore Government College of Education, Port Blair has been extended up to 10th November 2022 as requested by the Principal, JNRM, Port Blair due to non-receipt of results from Pondicherry University. Desirous candidates can now submit their online application up to 10th November 2022 via URL http://collegeadmission.andaman.gov.in. No more request for extension of dates will be entertained.

Port Blair, Oct. 29: Traffic arrangements have been made for the celebration of ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ or Unity Day, 2022 on Oct.31. On this day, a march past will be held at 1530 hrs from Dugong Guest House (PBMC) to Govt. Press via Girls School and Ram Krishna Mission. As per the arrangement, no vehicles will be permitted towards Dharamsala from any side after 1430 hrs to 1600 hrs. No vehicles will be permitted towards Flag Point from any side after 1430 hrs.

Port Blair, Oct. 28: CPI (M) has expressed concern over the sudden increase in the frequency and duration of power disruption occurring at Port Blair and rural South Andaman during the last few days. In a letter sent to the Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, Shri D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A&N State Organising Committee drew the attention of the Chief Secretary to the frequent disruption in the power supply occurring at Port Blair and South Andaman areas since last more than one year. However, it has been noticed that the frequency and duration of power disruption have suddenly increased during the last few days, he said in the letter.  Half of the day time, there is no electricity in the Port Blair town and rural South Andaman areas.  People from all walks of lives are suffering due to this increased power disruption particularly during day time. 

Port Blair, Oct. 30: One COVID positive case has been detected today in A&N Islands from incoming flight passenger who arrived here yesterday. Today, 15 flights with 2472 passengers arrived, out of which, 2244 passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted on 42 passengers and the reports are awaited.  

Port Blair, Oct. 28: Good news for those who want to witness Jarawa Hut and their artefacts. The Anthropological Survey of India (AnSI), Port Blair in collaboration with the AAJVS is coming up with a actual size Jarawa Hut in the premises of AnSI. The supervision of construction of the hut has been entrusted to Dr. Pronab Kumar Sircar, Tribal Welfare Officer while all logistics and support is being rendered by Dr. Nilanjan Khatua, Officer in Charge of AnSI, Port Blair. The huts is expected to be ready in few days and would be an attraction to the tourists and islanders especially the students and researchers who wish to learn more about the Jarawa tribe and their culture.
