POSHAN Abhiyan launched by Hon'ble Prime Minister in the year 2018 aims to achieve improvement in the status of nutrition of both children and women. Involvement of people in bringing behavioural change and inculcating the habit of a balanced diet through Jan Andolan and Community Mobilization are the two most important pillars to achieve this goal. Poshan Maah aspires to reduce stunting, under-nutrition, low-birth weight and anemia. Every year, the month of September is celebrated as POSHAN Maah in the Islands along with rest of the nation.

Port Blair, Sept. 19: All concerned candidates who have applied for allotment of various Professional/Technical/Non-Technical courses reserved at mainland institutions for the academic session 2023-24 have been informed that the counselling for the courses viz. BHMS - 4 seats, BAMS- 4 seats and Paramedical courses (DMLT -2, DRRT -1, DOA -1, DMC-1 & D.Pharm –1) -6 seats will be held on Sept.26, 2023 at 10 am in the Auditorium of Tagore Govt. College of Education.

Port Blair, Sept. 19: Fish farmers of Brindaban Gram Panchayat and adjoining areas have been informed that the distribution of freshwater fish seeds (fingerling) of Catla, Rohu and Mrigal shall be held at Gram Panchayat Office, Brindaban tomorrow (Sept. 20) from 10.30 am. Interested fish farmers have been requested to collect the freshwater fish seeds from the place of distribution. The cost of each oxygenated packet of fingerling sized fish seed is Rs. 210/- and the payment should be made on the spot.

Mayabunder, Sept. 19: The Ayushman Bhavah campaign’s core objective is to enhance healthcare accessibility and awareness, aligning with the vision of 'Antyodaya,' ensuring health services saturation in every village. To build momentum to enhance awareness about various health care schemes and to saturate critical health care schemes and services in every village, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has planned for ‘Ayushman Bhav’ campaign to ensure last mile delivery of health care services across the country in mission mode approach from Sept.17 to Oct. 2, 2023.

Port Blair, Sept. 19: Firing practice will be carried out at NSCB Dweep by Indian Navy and Indian Army on Sept. 20 and Sept. 22 from 3.30 pm to 5.30 pm. Safe flying height is above 7000m AMSL. All concerned have been warned to keep themselves and their fishing boats away from firing area during the mentioned date and time.
