Port Blair, Sept. 3: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Minister of Health & Family Welfare to allot 10 seats of M.Sc. Nursing in various colleges of Mainland India for the students of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

In a letter addressed to the Hon’ble Minister of Health & Family Welfare, the Member of Parliament mentioned that while there are some seats allocated through administrative quotas for B.Sc. Nursing, there remains an evident dearth of M.Sc. Nursing seats accessible to the students of Andaman & Nicobar Islands who aspire to pursue higher education in this field.

Car Nicobar, Sept 3: In less than 24 hrs Indian Coast Guard conducted two rescue operations in Nicobar group of Islands and saved 12 lives in distress. Both operations were undertaken by ICGS Rajdhwaj. The efforts of the ship are singular as both missions were undertaken 300 km apart.

On the night of 01 Sep 23, ICG Ship Rajdhwaj rescued 11 lives in distress and provided   towing   assistance   to   IFB   Harishma (Reg   No.   IND-AN-SA-MM-2121). IFB Harishma alongwith 11 crew had left from Junglighat harbour on 24 Aug 23 for fishing in Nicobar group of Islands.

Residents express gratitude to Secretary Shipping for his commitment

Port Blair, Sept. 3: The long awaited demand of the people of the remote southern Island Katchal has finally been heard and the Administration has released a standard Operating Procedure yesterday, ensuring the regular sailing of the ships. The then Secretary Shipping, Shri Kishore Kshirsagar Lakshman in an interview with All India Radio in May this year had assured that a standard operating procedure would be drawn to provide regular ships for Katchal on every Tuesday, and now that promise has been converted into reality. As per the schedule released for this month, the next sailing of ship M.V. Sindhu for Katchal will be on 5th September which will proceed further to Campbell bay touching Nancowry on the way. The next sailings of this ship for the month are scheduled on 12th, 19th and 26th September on every Tuesday.

Swaraj Dweep, Sept 3: The dedicated staff of PS Swaraj Dweep successfully solved a blind murder case within 48 hours. This extraordinary achievement underscores the dedication and competence of Andaman & Nicobar Police.

On 31/08/2023, a gruesome murder case came to light when the lifeless body of victim named Laxman Roy, 42 years, Pvt Worker, R/O Govind Nagar SwarajDweep was discovered buried in the sand on Radhanagar beach. The circumstances surrounding the murder were shrouded in mystery, with no immediate leads or clues of the perpetrators. Immediately, a FIR was registered at PS Swaraj Dweep and a police team comprising of Inspector N. Zainuddin, SHO PS Swaraj Dweep, SI Sumit Singh, Head Constable Jerome Edward, Police Constables Suraj Kumar, AP Mohd. Asif, Sujoy Mazumder, Mohd. Sharif, Rohit Khatkar, Abdul Basheer, Gurjeet Singh, Aurangzeb Ahmed, G. Dev Raju, Sandeep Tiwari, IRBn Constables Shankar Rao, G. Tarkesh, Police Drivers Nishal Ruben Ekka, Sandeep Kumar was constituted to investigate the case.

Port Blair, Sept. 3: A & N State Under 07 Chess Championship cum Selection trial for the 36th National under 07 Chess Championship 2023 was conducted by Andaman Nicobar Chess Association at ANCA Chess Centre, Dairy Farm, today (03.09.2023).

Altogether 32 young chess players participated in the State Under 07 Chess championship with great enthusiasm in which the following chess players have been selected as per the final standings of the Championship to represent A & N Islands in the upcoming 36th National Under-7 Chess Championships–2023 scheduled to be held in Kolkata, West Bengal from 21st September to 25th September 2023.
