Campbell Bay, Sept. 11: On 10 Sep 23, Indian Coast Guard District Headquarters at Campbell Bay coordinated the rescue of stranded fishing boat ‘Bhaskar III’ (IND-AN-SA-MM-2018). The boat with nine crew had left Port Blair for fishing on 25 Aug 23 and was operating near Little Nicobar when it became incapacitated on 08 Sep 23, as its propeller shaft got damaged in rough seas. As a result, the IFB started drifting in the open sea without sufficient food and water.

Rangat, Sept. 11: In a significant breakthrough for law enforcement, a crucial tip-off received by the Police Station Rangat this morning led to the discovery of a substantial illicit liquor production operation deep within the dense jungle of Shyamkund, Bakultala. As part of the continued crackdown on illicit liquor manufacturing, an elite team was swiftly assembled under the leadership of Inspector R.K Mazumder, the SHO of PS Rangat.

Rangat, Sept. 11: On 08/09/23 a swift and efficient response from the Rangat Police resulted in the successful apprehension of a robbery suspect, Mali Taman, who had allegedly robbed Rs. 70,000 from a retired forest labourer, William Dung Dung, in broad daylight.

The incident unfolded at the SBI Rangat branch, where William Dung Dung, accompanied by Mali Taman, had visited the bank to withdraw money, given his illiteracy. After a successful withdrawal of Rs. 70,000 from the cash counter, Mali Taman suddenly turned-on Dung Dung, thrashed him, forcibly seized the money, and threatened him before fleeing the scene. Mr. Dung Dung immediately reported the incident to the Rangat Police Station, leading to the registration of a FIR.

Port Blair, Sept. 11: Mr. Rangalal Halder, President, ANTCC and Mr. TSG Bhasker, Chairman, Campaign Committee, ANTCC visited Katchal Island and interacted with the Tribal leaders and villagers of Japan Tikrey and Meenakshi Ram Nagar. During the interaction, the tribal leaders put forth their long pending demands before the Congress Leaders. Halder and Bhasker assured to look into the issues and resolve them as soon as possible.
