Lockdown Announced for Weekends in the Islands to Continue

Port Blair, July 31: The Union Home Ministry has issued new guidelines on 29th July 2020 for opening up of more activities in areas outside the Containment Zones and the process of phased reopening of activities has been extended further in Unlock-3, which will come into effect from 1st August 2020.

Port Blair, July 30: The Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has suggested the Lt. Governor, A&N Islands few measures for implementation to contain the spread of COVID-19 cases as well as to upgrade COVID-19 treatment facilities in the A&N Islands since COVID-19 positive cases are increasing in these Islands.

Port Blair, July 30: Rapid rise in the COVID-19 cases has been observed recently in the UT and majority of them are through contacts. In order to contain the spread of COVID-19, the Directorate of Transport has decided to discontinue all transactions related to Registration of Motor Vehicles including collection of road tax, fitness, renewal of registration, issuance of NOC etc. and issuance of new as well as renewal of driving licence and new learners licence w.e.f. 31-07-2020 temporarily.  

New Delhi, July 30: The Indian Journalists Union (IJU) has joined hands with the Andaman & Nicobar Media Federation in decrying then on inclusion of journalists and other essential media staff in the exemption list during weekend lockdown in the Andaman & Nicobar Island.
