Police Station Pahargaon Ranked as the 05th Best Police Station in the Country

Port Blair, March 6: The pro-active support and positive encouragement of Hon’ble LG and Chief Secretary, A&N Islands has enabled the A&N Police to achieve the unique distinction of featuring among the 10th Best Police Stations of the country for the fourth time. Under the leadership of the Director General of Police, A&N Islands, Shri Neeraj Thakur, Pahargaon Police Station of the South Andaman District has been ranked as number 5 in the Best Police Stations of India by Ministry of Home Affairs, GoI. In 2018, PS Campbell Bay, in 2019, PS Aberdeen and in 2020, Kalighat Police Station, were declared as one of the best Police Stations of the country. This amply reflects the high standards and overall quality of service delivery by the A&N Police.

Member of Parliament Refers Women as the Backbone of Our Society

Port Blair, March 6: Two important programs in connection with International Women's Day were organised at Namunaghar and Gupta Para areas of South Andaman District. The International Women's Day program was held in the Namunaghar area on Sunday and at Gupta Para on Saturday. Addressing the gathering at Namunaghar, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma emphasized on three major points for the welfare of women in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Car Nicobar, March 6: The Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District, Shri Hari Kallikkat, IAS, visited Campbell Bay. During the visit, he reviewed the functioning of Primary Health Centre, Anganwadi Centre, Amrit Sarovar works & GSS School along with AC, Campbell Bay, Tehsildar, BDO and other officials.

Shri Hari Kallikkat on his maiden visit to Campbell Bay after assuming the charge of Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District reviewed various projects and works at Campbell Bay. During the inspection at PHC Campbell Bay, he interacted with doctors and other paramedical staffs. He interacted with the patients also, and gave necessary directions for their wellbeing. Pharmacy counter, Laboratory, X-ray facilities etc. were also inspected.

Port Blair, March 6: Under Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA), A&N Administration has made an appeal to the private practitioners of A&N Islands to volunteer themselves to provide free services and be part of the Jan Andolan. In A&N Islands, 10 doctors have already pledged to provide voluntary service under PMSMA from 9th March 2023.

PMSMA has been implemented in A&N Islands since 9th September, 2016. On 9th day of every month, all essential maternal health services will be provided at identified public health facilities. The PMSMA is aimed to reach out to all pregnant women who are in 2nd & 3rd trimester of pregnancy. PMSMA will help in providing quality ANC including complete set of investigations like such as HB, Urine Albumin, VDRL, OGTT including ultrasound for each pregnant woman. This would help in timely detection, referral, treatment and follow-up of high risk pregnancies.

Port Blair, March 6: Members of Tribal Council of Harminder Bay in Little Andaman, along with other residents of the Little Andaman recently expressed their concern to the Member of Parliament of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, regarding the absence of direct scheduled ships for Car Nicobar from Hutbay.
