Port Blair, July 23: A sensitization program will be organized for all Common Service Centers (CSC) Operators/VLEs of A&N Islands for better service delivery through Common Service Centers (CSCs). All concerned have been requested to attend this Sensitization Program in the Conference Hall of DBRAIT Auditorium, Dollygunj, Port Blair at 3:30 pm on 25th July, 2023 to put forward their challenges and suggestions in order to improve the delivery of services through CSCs.

D Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) Andaman and Nicobar State Organising Committee condoled the sudden demise of Shri PK Banerjee, retired Craft Instructor of Education Department today (23.07.2023) morning at his residence at Prem Nagar, Port Blair. He was 76 years. He was the younger brother of Pronob Banerjee, former President of the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association. 

CPI (M) Secretary conveyed his deepest condolences to the family members of late PK Banerjee.   

Port Blair, July 21: Chess Prodigy from A & N Islands, R Kashthuri Bhai who recently won bronze medal for India in the Rapid event of 17th Asian Schools Chess Championship 2023, made the islanders and the nation proud again, this time by winning a Silver medal for India in the Blitz event of 17th Asian Schools under 17 Chess Championships 2023 held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan that concluded yesterday (20.07.2023)

Port Blair, July 21: In an effort to combat the growing threat of Bank/Soil erosion in various regions of North & Middle Andaman as well as South Andaman, the Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, has requested thorough survey and alternative land for affected farmers.

In his letter to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, the Member of Parliament said that during his visits to remote areas of North and Middle Andaman, as well as South Andaman, he has personally witnessed the alarming consequences of Bank/Soil erosion in numerous villages. The erosion, caused primarily by the flow of rivers and various nallahs, has posed a severe threat to the livelihoods of farmers who depend on the allotted land.

Port Blair, July 21: It was all smiles and laughter around when 18 residents of Old Age Homes got an opportunity to spend some time out in the open, exploring the beach and concluding the trip with lunch in a garden amidst a wide range of plants.

When Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi (PBGKR) was requested to arrange for an outing for the seniors by the Directorate of Social Welfare, A&N Administration, the team PBGKR readily accepting the request, arranged for transporting the seniors from Ferrargunj to Corbyn’s Cove Beach. It had been a long time when the not so privileged seniors had an outing. The seniors enjoyed the waves as it caressed their feet pressed into the wet sand. A refreshing experience it was to see them smile again.
