Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb. 3: The Inter Primary School Football League-cum-Knockout Tournament 2026, organized by the Office of the Deputy Education Officer, South Andaman, was kicked off today at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Sri Vijaya Puram. A total of 62 teams from primary schools across the South Andaman Zone are participating in the tournament.
Shri. Vikram Singh, Director (Education & Sports), A&N Administration, graced the occasion as the chief guest and formally inaugurated the tournament. While addressing the gathering, the chief guest emphasized that the tournament has been organized with the objective of promoting sportsmanship, physical fitness, regular participation in games and sports, fostering friendship and camaraderie among children, and encouraging students to stay away from excessive use of mobile phones. The event also aims to identify talented players at the grassroots level for participation in forthcoming State-level football competitions.
In the first round of matches, under the Boys’ Category, GSS Calicut defeated GMS Brichgunj by 1-0 goal while under the Girls’ Category, GMS Humphrygunj defeated GMS Brichgunj 5-0 goals.
