JAF Raises Deemed University Concerns in New Delhi, Submits Representation to AIU Secretary General

Sri Vijaya Puram, March 20: Shri. TSG Bhasker, Advisor of the Joint Action Forum, during his recent visit to New Delhi, called upon Dr. (Mrs.) Pankaj Mittal, Secretary General of the Association of Indian Universities, to discuss the ongoing concerns surrounding the proposed Deemed University in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

During the meeting, Shri. TSG Bhasker highlighted the apprehensions of various stakeholders regarding the proposal, emphasizing its potential implications on the local population. He elaborated on the concerns raised by the Joint Action Forum.

Shri. TSG Bhasker also submitted a detailed representation letter on behalf of the Joint Action Forum, outlining the collective objections and demands of the people.

He was accompanied by Members of the Tribal Council, who also strongly voiced their objections to the proposed Deemed University.

Dr. (Mrs) Pankaj Mittal supported the demands of the JAF and assured to take up the matter at her level. She also suggested the delegation to meet a few officials at University Grants Commission

Following her instructions, the delegation visited UGC and met the officials and discussed the matter.
