Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 26: The Joint Platform of Central Trade Unions and mass organisations have given a call to organize protest programme at District Headquarters and work places on 26th November, 2025 to protest against notification of four Labour Codes.

In Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the CITU has organised a mass demonstration in front of the Port Blair Municipal Council at Aberdeen Bazar (near Gandhi statue) at 3.30 p.m today (26th November, 2025) in which   hundreds of workers from various unions affiliated to CITU participated. Inaugurating the  Mass Demonstration,  B. Chandrachoodan, General Secretary, CITU State Committee  criticized the  Modi government  for  enacting  the four anti-working class and  pro-corporate  labour codes which  have been notified on  21st November,  2025.

Addressing the participants in the mass demonstration, D. Ayyappan, Vice President, CITU State Committee briefly explained the background for repealing the existing 29 laws and enacting the new four labour codes.  He said that these anti-working-class labour codes were enacted in the Parliament during 2019 and at the height of Covid pandemic in 2020 in order to favour the corporates in the country. He further said that many of the existing benefits enjoyed by the workers would be curtailed with the introduction of these Labour Codes.

Copies of the four labour codes were burnt in the programme.

SP Kalairajan, Secretary, CITU State Committee also addressed the gathering.  R. Surendran Pillai, President, Anand Rajan and M. Yugander, Secretaries CITU led the mass demonstration.
