Kargil Vijay Diwas Commemorated with Solemn Dignity at Andaman & Nicobar Command

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 27: The Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) paid a heartfelt tribute to the brave soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, marking the 26th anniversary of India’s decisive victory in the 1999 Kargil conflict.

A solemn wreath-laying ceremony was held at Bayonet Chowk, Brichgunj Military Station, where Lieutenant General D S Rana, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, SM, Ph.D., Commander-in-Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command, laid a wreath on behalf of all ranks of ANC, in honour of the valiant soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in service of the nation. The ceremony was attended by officers, junior commissioned officers, other ranks and veterans, all united in their solemn respect for the nation’s heroes.

The Commander-in-Chief also interacted with serving personnel and veterans, acknowledging their dedication and contributions to national security. He called upon the troops of the Andaman & Nicobar Command to draw inspiration from the indomitable spirit of the Kargil warriors and remain ever-prepared to defend the sovereignty and integrity of the nation, particularly in the strategically vital maritime frontier of India.

Kargil Vijay Diwas, observed annually on July 26, marks India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1999 Kargil War and honours the heroism and sacrifice of the soldiers who fought valiantly to safeguard the motherland.
