
Sri Vijaya Puram, April 7: The A&N State Legal Services Authority, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, organized a Legal Awareness Programme in association with PRAYAS JAC and under Mission Shakti, Directorate of Social Welfare today in the auditorium of TGCE.
The programme witnessed active participation from Anganwadi workers and staff members of the Directorate of Social Welfare.
The event was graced by Shri Rashid Alam, Registrar, Calcutta High Court, Circuit Bench at Port Blair & Member Secretary, A&N State Legal Services Authority; Shri Neyaz Alam, Ld. Additional District Judge, Port Blair & Chairman (In-charge), District Legal Services Authority, A&N Islands; Shri Diptendra Nath Mitra, Ld. Judge, Family Court, Port Blair; and Shri Jayanta Mukherjee, Ld. Judicial Magistrate First Class, 2nd Court, Port Blair.
The programme was also attended by Ms. Mariya Sheila, Regional Head, PRAYAS JAC; Shri K. Vijay Kumar, Advisor, PRAYAS JAC; along with staff members of DLSA and PRAYAS JAC.
During the session, Shri Rashid Alam addressed the gathering and elaborated on the services provided by Legal Services Authorities to vulnerable sections of society. He also highlighted various schemes introduced by NALSA for the welfare of marginalized groups.
Shri Neyaz Alam spoke on the provisions of the POCSO Act, focusing on the safety of the girl child and available legal remedies.
Shri Diptendra Nath Mitra explained key aspects of the POCSO Act, NDPS Act, and the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act.
