Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 17: The Akhil Bhartiya Terapanth Yuvak Parishad organized a Mega Blood Donation Camp in association with the National Service Scheme Unit, JNRM to mark the birth anniversary of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi at JNRM Auditorium here today. The Camp was inaugurated by Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency by lighting the traditional lamp.
Addressing the gathering, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor congratulated the Akhil Bhartiya Terapanth Yuvak Parishad for organizing the camp on the occasion of Viswakarma Jayanti and the birthday of the Hon’ble Prime Minister. He highlighted that the Parishad’s efforts are extraordinary, having entered the ‘World Book of Records’ for collecting more than 2,50,000 units of blood in a single day. He further stated that while there are many forms of donations such as money and food, but blood donation is a sacred and righteous act that saves humanity. Appreciating the Parishad’s voluntary service, he described blood donation as the “most precious gift of life.”
The event was graced by Ms. Chanchal Yadav, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Ms. Richa, Secretary (Health) and other Officers of A&N Administration.
During the camp, a total of 81 donors voluntarily donated blood. The process was supported by the technical team from the Blood Centre, G. B. Pant Hospital, Sri Vijaya Puram, and the A&N AIDS Control Society. Donors were screened as per eligibility criteria, and certificates of appreciation were distributed to all participants.
Earlier, the programme began with the welcome address by Shri Mahender Marlecha, Coordinator, Akhil Bhartiya Terapanth Yuvak Parishad while the programme concluded with the vote of thanks by the programme Coordinator, Dr. Kandimuthu, Assistant Professor & NSS Coordinator, JNRM.
