Major Eviction Drive Carried Out in the Entire Stretch from Flag Point to JNRM

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 28: Pursuing its zero-tolerance policy towards land encroachments, the District Administration, South Andaman, carried out a major eviction drive at Sri Vijaya Puram to clear unauthorized occupations on Government Revenue land along the roadside area.

Continuing its sustained efforts to remove encroachments from public land, a team from the Revenue Department, in coordination with the Police Department and with active support from municipal labourers carried out an eviction drive near JNRM College. During the operation, 11 unauthorized structures, including ghumtis, makeshift stalls, and temporary shops that had been operating without valid permission on Government Revenue land were removed. The drive was executed in a well-coordinated manner, ensuring the process was carried out peacefully and efficiently under adequate police protection.

The eviction covered the entire stretch from Flag Point to Girls’ School, Sri Vijaya Puram, where several temporary commercial setups had been obstructing pedestrian movement and public access. The removal of these encroachments has not only restored valuable Government land to its rightful status but has also improved the visibility and safety along the main road.

The District Administration reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding public property and maintaining encroachment-free zones across the district for the benefit of the general public.
