
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 27: In a significant step towards strengthening the livestock sector, a meeting-cum-awareness programme was organised at the Veterinary Dispensary, Manglutan, aimed at forming Dairy and Poultry Farmers’ Cooperative Societies in the area.
The programme was organised by the SVO, Manglutan and witnessed the participation of 26 local farmers, along with senior officials and public representatives. Shri Pallani Kumar, Gram Pradhan, Humfreygunj, Smt. Kavita Devi, Panchayat Samiti Member, Smt. Namita Singh, Assistant Registrar, Cooperative Societies, and other SVOs from the Department were present on the occasion.
Addressing the farmers, the SVOs highlighted the benefits of forming cooperative societies, including collective marketing, better income opportunities and access to Government schemes, future prospects of quail farming for egg production and the importance of Embryo Transfer Technology (ETT) in genetic improvement of livestock.
As a major outcome of the programme, Smt. Meenakshi from Indira Nagar was appointed as the Chief Promoter for the Poultry Cooperative Society, while Shri Bhudeb Biswas was appointed as the Chief Promoter for the Dairy Cooperative Society. The registration process for both societies has already begun.
