Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 2: The Member of Parliament, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray felicitated the talented Karate athletes from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands who brought pride laurel to the Union Territory with their remarkable performance at the National Karate Championship held at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi. The Islands’ Karate contingent delivered an outstanding performance, securing a total of 10 medals including 4 Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze and showcased their discipline, strength, and sporting spirit at the national level. The medal winners were Ms. Jai Shree, Ms. V. Shanti, Ms. Ranjana, Mr. Shafiq Sheikh, Mr. Rahul Halder, Mr. Prabhakar, Mr. Kiran Kumar, Mr. Davesh Ram.
Shri Bishnu Pada Ray congratulated the athletes for their commendable achievements and lauded their dedication, perseverance, and sportsmanship. He emphasized that their success not only brings honour to the Islands but also serves as an inspiration for other youth across the region to pursue excellence in sports.
In his remarks, the Hon’ble MP also extended heartfelt appreciation to Master Dr. M.D. Selvam for his over 35 years of selfless and dedicated service to the field of Martial Arts and sports development. Ray acknowledged Dr. Selvam’s crucial role in nurturing young talent and promoting Karate across the Islands. The Hon’ble MP offered his blessings to the medal winners and wished them continued success in all future.
