
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 13: In line with the directives issued by the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to conduct monthly mock drills across Departments for strengthening preparedness and promoting discipline, the Directorate of Shipping Services today conducted Earthquake Mock Drill at DSS main Administrative Building premises.
The drill was conducted under the supervision of the Nodal Officer Disaster Management, DSS and saw active participation from all employees of DSS main Administrative Building, Information Centre and STARS Ticketing Counter alongwith Disaster Management Team of DSS.
As part of the exercise, a total of 127 personnel were successfully evacuated to the designated shelter point. The mock scenario also included the rescue of three simulated injured persons, who were promptly given First Aid and evacuated by the response team.
The entire exercise was carried out in a coordinated manner, demonstrating efficient response protocols and inter-agency cooperation under the overall supervision of Shri.J. Gopinath, Deputy Director (i/c), DSS. Once the situation was declared normalized, all personnel returned safely to their respective workstations.
The Directorate remains committed to ensuring the safety of all personnel and assets by conducting such preparedness drills which aims to build a culture of readiness and resilience against natural disasters like Earthquake, Tsunami and other emergencies.
