Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb 3: Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, has drawn attention to the long-pending issue relating to the revision of salary of MGNREGA (Re-named as VB-V GRAM) employees working under the Rural Development Department of the A&N Administration.
The Hon’ble MP stated that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), while examining the proposal submitted by the A&N Administration for revision of salaries, had sought certain clarifications and information from the Administration vide its letter dated 11 November 2025. However, the required information is yet to be furnished, which has resulted in delay in finalizing the salary revision.
Shri Bishnu Pada Ray noted that the matter has been pending since November 2025 due to procedural processes and movement of files at various levels. This prolonged delay has caused hardship and concern among these employees, who have been serving the Administration with dedication and sincerity.
The Hon’ble MP observed that timely resolution of such issues is important not only for maintaining the morale of employees but also for ensuring efficient administrative functioning. He expressed hope that the A&N Administration would take expeditious steps to address the pending issues.
Shri Bishnu Pada Ray has requested the Chief Secretary of the A&N Administration to intervene and ensure that the pending clarifications and proposal are submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs at the earliest, so that the long-awaited salary revision of these employees can be finalized without further delay.
Reiterating his commitment to the welfare of these employees, the Hon’ble MP expressed confidence that the Administration would take prompt and compassionate action in the larger interest of justice and fairness.
