Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb. 11: The National Informatics Centre (NIC), Sri Vijaya Puram, in collaboration with C-DAC under the ISEA Project, organized a series of awareness sessions across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands on the occasion of Safer Internet Day 2026 yesterday. The events were conducted under the global theme: “Smart Tech, Safe Choices – Exploring the Safe and Responsible Use of AI.”
The sessions aimed to educate citizens about safe online practices, cyber hygiene, protection against digital threats, and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence. Awareness sessions were held at TGCE, MGGC and DC Office Conference Hall, Car Nicobar.
The awareness session at TGCE witnessed enthusiastic participation including students of TGCE, JNRM, IT Cadre Officials and Team NIC. The guests of honour were Smt. Manju Lata Rao, Principal, TGCE, Shri Gautam Gupta, SIO NIC Andaman and Nicobar UT Centre. SIO NIC gave a detailed presentation on Safer Internet access, cybersecurity best practices, online fraud prevention, responsible internet usage, effective digital safety measures. The NIC, N&M Andaman District Unit officials organised awareness session at Mahatma Gandhi Govt College, Mayabunder. The chief guest was Shri Krishna Chaitanya, Additional District Magistrate, North and Middle Andaman District.
The workshop at DC Office Conference Hall, Car Nicobar, Nicobar district witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, HoDs of all Departments, shopkeepers and general public. The chief guest was Shri John Levi, Deputy Vice Chief Tribal Council.
