Nicobar District Police Culminates 74th Police Raising Day Week with BadaKhana

Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 23: The 74th Police Raising Week was observed from 16th to 22nd January 2026 with great enthusiasm across Nicobar District. A series of events were organized by various police stations of the district to engage the community, promote public awareness and highlight the role of the police in ensuring the security and safety of society.

On 17.01.2026, a tug-of-war competition was organized by PS Nancowrie for school students at the Kamorta School Ground with the objective of inspiring and encouraging them. In continuation of the Police Raising Week celebrations, all police stations under Nicobar District emphasized police–public relations through volleyball tournaments and other community-based activities. These events were conducted at different locations, including Lapathy Beach by PS Car Nicobar, Government Model Secondary School, Kamorta by PS Nancowrie, Goal Tikrey by PS Katchal, and GSSS Campbell Bay Ground by PS Campbell Bay. Students and members of the general public participated enthusiastically in these events.

On 20.01.2026, a cycle rally was organized by PS Campbell Bay. Subsequently, on 21.01.2026, a 5 km marathon run, categorized by age groups, was organized by PS Car Nicobar, during which the winners were awarded. Shri Rahul L. Nair, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District, participated in the event and encouraged the youth to strive for a better future.

In addition to this, all police stations under Nicobar District organized awareness programmes, which were a key highlight during the observance of Raising Day Week.PS Car Nicobar held an awareness session at Kinyuka Village to educate the public on the POCSO Act, the harmful effects of alcohol and drugs, and the importance of reporting suspicious items.PS Nancowrie conducted an interactive programme at Chota Enaka Community Hall, sensitizing around 35 students on cybercrime, traffic rules, and the ill effects of alcohol.PS Katchal organized an awareness session for girl students at GSSS Kapanga, focusing on women-related issues and the POCSO Act. A separate programme was also conducted at Japan Tikery Village, educating villagers about the dangers of cybercrime and the need to safeguard personal information. Similarly, PS Campbell Bay conducted awareness programmes at GSSS Vijay Nagar and Rajiv Nagar Village, attended by 60 students and 30 villagers respectively, focusing on substance abuse and cyber safety.

The observance concluded on 22nd January 2026 with a Bada Khana organized at the District Headquarters, Car Nicobar. The gathering brought together police personnel and their families, creating a joyous and memorable atmosphere. It was an honour that Shri Amit Kale, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District, participated in the event. Senior officers and staff members participated enthusiastically, making the occasion a fitting culmination of the week-long observance. Through these activities, the Nicobar District Police demonstrated their commitment to community engagement, raising awareness, and fostering stronger bonds with the public.
