
Mayabunder, Jan 16: The North & Middle Andaman District Police proudly organized the Finals-cum-Closing Ceremony of the SP Cup Wind Ball Cricket Tournament (Season–II) at Netaji Stadium, Mayabunder, as part of the celebrations marking the 74th Andaman and Nicobar Police Raising Day. The tournament, which commenced on 10th January 2026, concluded on 16th January 2026, showcasing remarkable talent, spirited competition, and exemplary sportsmanship throughout the event.
The finals were ceremoniously inaugurated by Smt. Shweta K. Sugathan, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District, as the Chief Guest, along with the Guest of Honour Sh. S. Krishna Chaitanya, DANICS, ADM (HQ), Sh. Ankesh Yadav, DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur, Sh. Chandan G. S., DANIPS, SDPO Rangat, and other prominent dignitaries. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from nine teams across the region, who competed with remarkable zeal, discipline, and determination in pursuit of the prestigious title.
In a thrilling final match between ASM and Bengal Tigers, ASM emerged victorious, clinching the coveted trophy along with a cash prize. The runners-up team, along with the Best Player, Best Bowler, Best Batsman, and all participating teams, were felicitated with trophies and certificates during the closing ceremony, in recognition of their outstanding performances, sportsmanship, and enthusiastic participation.
The North & Middle Andaman District Police extend their sincere appreciation to all participating teams, supporters, and organizers whose collective efforts contributed to the resounding success of the tournament. Beyond fostering physical fitness and sporting excellence, the event served as a meaningful platform to promote camaraderie and further strengthen the enduring bond between the police and the community.
