New Digital System Introduced to Enhance Operational Efficiency, Strengthen Security and Improve Convenience

Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 25: The Port Management Board (PMB) had been issuing various types of passes through an offline process, including Individual Permanent Passes, Vehicle Permanent Passes, Government Port Entry Passes, and temporary passes such as daily, weekly, and monthly permits. There had been a persistent demand from port users for the online issuance of port entry passes due the hardships faced by the port user because of the cumbersome procedure being followed for availing these services. As an initiative towards Ease of Doing Business, PMB, in collaboration with SOVTECH, has developed the Port Pravesh Management System. The system was formally inaugurated by the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS today.
The new digital system has been introduced to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen security protocols, and improve convenience for port users, stakeholders, contractors, and visitors across all port entry points. By shifting to a fully digital processing mechanism, the system will significantly reduce manual interventions, minimize processing time, and ensure greater transparency in access control and monitoring.
Applicants can now submit their applications online, upload necessary documents, track the status of their requests, and receive approvals digitally. Verification at port entry gates will be carried out through QR code scanning, resulting in faster processing and enhanced security.
This initiative demonstrates PMB’s continued commitment to adopting modern technologies, improving service delivery, and creating a safer and more efficient working environment for all users. All stakeholders are requested to adopt the new online process with immediate effect.
