Kalighat, March 27: On 26.03.2026, acting on credible information, a team from PS Kalighat conducted a raid in the dense Talbagan Forest to curb illicit liquor brewing. The team comprising HC(IRBn) Santosh Kr. Nair, HC(SG) Samaresh Mistry, and HC(SG) Ranjit Biswas searched the suspected area near Talbagan village.
During the operation, about 370 litres of illicit Lehan concealed in plastic and iron drums inside the forest were recovered. As no claimant was found, the entire stock along with the containers and materials used for the illegal activity was destroyed on-site as per due procedure.
The operation highlights the continued vigilance and firm action of N&MA District Police against illicit liquor activities in the area.
