
Sri Vijaya Puram, March 6: The Public Health Engineering Division (PHED), APWD organized a Water Concert on March 3 at Bathubasti Ground with the objective of creating public awareness on the importance of water conservation and the responsible use of water resources.
The event was organized as part of the ongoing awareness campaign of the Administration to sensitize the public about the need to conserve water, particularly in view of the limited freshwater resources in the islands. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from the public and served as a platform to spread the message of saving water through engaging cultural activities.
Various cultural programmes were presented during the event focusing on the theme of water conservation. Local artists performed dance programmes, songs and a puppet show that effectively conveyed the message of saving water and preventing its wastage. These performances highlighted the importance of adopting simple yet effective practices in daily life to conserve this precious natural resource.
During the programme, the toll-free helpline numbers 18003451666 and 03192-251185 were also shared with the public. Residents were encouraged to make use of these numbers to report water supply issues, leakages or any other water-related complaints so that prompt action can be taken by the concerned authorities.
A signature campaign was also organized on the occasion, wherein participants pledged their commitment towards water conservation by signing a pledge board. The initiative saw active participation from members of the public, reflecting their collective responsibility towards safeguarding water resources.
The programme concluded with a pledge taken by all participants to conserve water and to work collectively towards ensuring the availability of water for future generations.
The event was attended by a large gathering including Government officials, public representatives and members of the general public.
