Wimberlygunj, Nov. 27: The Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan (RGPRS), Andaman & Nicobar Islands, organized an awareness programme on the Gram Swaraj Yatra on 24th November at the Wimberlygunj Community Hall. The event was held under the dynamic leadership of Shri O. Bashir, Chairman, RGPRS A&N Islands.
The programme was graced by the august presence of several distinguished leaders, including Shri Rangalal Halder, President, ANTCC, Shri TSG Bhasker, Chairman, Campaign Committee-ANTCC, Smt. Zubaida Begum, President, Mahila Congress, Shri John Robert Babu, District President, Shri Mohd. Zubair, President, City Congress, Shri KP Usman, State President, INTUC Federation, Shri Mohd. Rafiq, General Secretary, INTUC, Shri M.A. Sajid, Vice President, Youth Congress, Shri Tejeswara Rao, Chairman, UWEC and several PRI members, Congress workers, and local residents of South Andaman.
During the event, speakers highlighted the vision of Gram Swaraj inspired by Rajiv Gandhi Ji and emphasized the need for strengthening grassroots democracy, empowerment of Panchayati Raj Institutions, and ensuring active public participation in local governance. Discussions also focused on creating awareness about rural development initiatives, community mobilization, and promoting social justice at the village level.
Leaders collectively urged citizens to participate in the S.I.R process and uphold democratic values.
