Rising Stress, Poor Diets and Long Work Hours Are Hurting Young Indians — A Homegrown Solution Emerges

Across major Indian cities like Bangalore, Chennai, Pune, Gurgaon and Hyderabad, young bachelors and early professionals are struggling to maintain healthy eating habits amidst intense work pressure and fast-paced urban life. A recent Times of India report found that nearly 70% of students in metros experience moderate to high anxiety, much of it worsened by irregular meals and nutritional imbalance (TOI, 2023). Research on PubMed also links poor dietary patterns among young adults to higher stress levels and growing lifestyle disorders.

Amid this rising concern, two final-year students from VIT Chennai — Aditya Kumar Jha and Shikar Burman — have built a homegrown platform designed specifically for Indian kitchens and Indian routines. Their solution recommends quick, wholesome meals based on ingredients already available at home, tracks habits, moods and routines, and even generates instant grocery lists with one-click Flipkart ordering. “We wanted to create something that understands Indian kitchens, not just calories,” says co-founder Aditya Kumar Jha.

Made for young Indians living alone or navigating demanding work schedules, the platform helps users eat better, save time and regain control over their daily lifestyle — addressing a gap often left by foreign apps that overlook Indian foods, budgets and everyday realities.
