Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 31: The Department of Education and Sports, in coordination with line Department organized the Run for Unity to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel today at Netaji Stadium. The Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, administered the Unity Pledge and flagged off the Run for Unity in the presence of Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, Chief Secretary, Shri L. Kumar, IAS, Secretary (Education/Sports), Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman and Dr. Jatinder Sohal, Director (Education/Sports).
A large number of School/College students, teachers, parents and general public enthusiastically participated in the event. The run which started from Netaji Stadium, passed through the vantage points in the town and culminated at the Netaji Stadium, symbolizing the unity and collective spirit of the participants.
The event successfully highlighted the values of unity, integrity, and patriotism, reflecting the ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India.
