Sailings to Nicobar Group Postponed Due to Inclement Weather Conditions

Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 1: In view of the weather advisory issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) indicating likely formation of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, the Directorate of Shipping Services, keeping in view the safety of passengers and vessels, has postponed the sailing schedule of vessel Nalanda to Campbell Bay via Nancowry & Katchal on Sept. 2 and her return voyage on Sept. 4 at 0600 hrs from Campbell Bay via the same route.

As per revised schedule, the vessel Nalanda will now sail for Campbell Bay via Nancowry & Katchal on Sept. 4 at 0900 hrs from Haddo Wharf and will sail back to Sri Vijaya Puram on Sept. 6 at 0600 hrs from Campbell Bay via same route.

Similarly, due to the prevailing inclement weather conditions, this Directorate may be forced to suspend or cancel Inter-Island/Foreshore Sector vessels at short notice. Further, the operation of Harbour/Vehicle ferry services between Chatham, Bambooflat, Dundas Point, Hopetown, Phoenix Bay, and at outstations may also face disruption or suspension depending on weather conditions.
