Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 01 (PIB): The Sanchar Mitra Scheme, by Department of Telecommunications (DoT), empowers college students as “digital ambassadors” to raise awareness about telecom services, digital safety (like fraud prevention), and responsible tech use in their communities, leveraging youth for grassroots outreach.
Sanchar Mitras have been selected across India by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) in collaboration with various institutes and colleges. In the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, seven students were selected from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (DBRAIT), Dollygunj, through a selection process.
On 31 December 2025, the Sanchar Mitras actively participated in the Annual Island Tourism Festival 2025 held at Sri Vijaya Puram. They showcased the key features of the Sanchar Saathi App and created awareness on cyber frauds such as digital arrest scams, banking frauds, and KYC-related frauds through an informative and engaging skit performance.
Following the performance, the Sanchar Mitras visited various stalls, engaging with visitors and explaining the key features and benefits of the Sanchar Saathi App. They also created awareness about digital frauds, further strengthening public understanding of telecom safety and digital security.
