Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 2: Under the guidance of Chief Secretary, SARTHINI scheme was launched by RSETI, State Bank of India and Transport Department, A&N Administration. The aim of the Scheme is to provide free Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) driving training to women in this UT, especially from poor and underprivileged backgrounds to gain driving skills for employment as well as their self-reliance.
Encouraging responses have so far been received from the female applicants from all over the UT. In this direction, first batch of 34 female candidates have started taking their training in driving alongwith entrepreneurial module from 30.8.2025 in Swaraj Dweep. The next batch of female candidates is likely to start the training from the second week of September 2025 in North & Middle Andaman District. Similarly, training under SARTHINI scheme will be undertaken in other places too.
This entrepreneurship training initiative is a significant step towards women empowerment and skill development in the Islands, helping women become self-reliant and enabling them to explore employment and self-employment opportunities.
