
Car Nicobar, March 20: The District Administration, Nicobar organized a comprehensive series of events to boost local commerce, enterprise, and social welfare. The itinerary was led by Miss. Ankita Pandey, IRS, Director MSME, alongside Shri Amit Kale, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar and the Assistant Commissioner (HQ) Car Nicobar.
Key Highlights of the Visit:
Inauguration of the Weekend Farmers Market: Launched at Edward Kutchat Park in Perka, the vibrant market featured local SHGs and farmers selling fresh produce and crafts. A major highlight was the successful market debut of NABARD-ITDP-funded Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) producers with the support of Rural Development Dept. Due to massive public response; the market will now operate every Saturday evening.
Aspirational Block Programme (ABP) Review: Miss. Ankita Pandey chaired a strategic review at the DC Chamber Hall for the Car Nicobar and Nancowrie blocks. Officials discussed the progress of Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0 and the roadmap for elevating the region’s socio-economic indicators.
MSME & PM Vishwakarma Awareness Camp: Hosted at Perka Community Hall by the MSME Centre, Sri Vijaya Puram branch. Ms Anikta Pandey urged local youth and women to transition into job-creators. Assistant Director Shri G.K. Sinha briefed attendees on crucial Central Government schemes, credit-linked subsidies, and Udyam registration to scale their businesses.
Grassroots Inspections in Kinyuka Village: The Director (MSME) concluded her tour by inspecting village-level institutions. She evaluated the Anganwadi Centre for kitchen hygiene and nutritional quality, followed by assessments of the Health Sub-Centre and Government Primary School (GPS), Kinyuka to ensure essential medicines and educational amenities are reaching the community effectively.
