
Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb. 4: The State Hub for Empowerment of Women (SHEW) successfully conducted a workshop on ‘Smart Packaging Techniques for Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Small Food Businesses’ with an objective of strengthening the capacity of grassroots entrepreneurs and enhancing the market competitiveness of locally produced food products.
The workshop was conducted at Ferrargunj, focusing on the importance of packaging as a critical component of product quality, branding, safety and consumer’s appeal. Participants were sensitized to how attractive, safe and cost-effective packaging can significantly increase product’s shelf life, build customer trust and improve sales. SHEW emphasized that empowering SHGs and small entrepreneurs with technical knowledge and skills is essential for promoting self-reliance, income generation and sustainable livelihoods, especially among women and rural communities.
The second session of the program was conducted at Bhatubasti, Ward Number 19 in collaboration with Directorate of Health Services and Hope Foundation. The program highlighted the current scenario of HIV, RTI and STI in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, their modes of transmission, signs and symptoms, prevention strategies and the importance of early testing and timely treatment. Ms. Mini Kumar, Counselor, ICTC, District Hospital, Garacharma also spoke on the occasion.
