SP Nicobar District Conducts Jan Sunawai at Kakana Village

Car Nicobar Aug 3: On 02/08/2025, Shri Rahul L Nair, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District, held a “Jan Sunwai” (Public Hearing) at the Community Hall, Kakana, Car Nicobar, with active participation from around 30-40 residents, in the presence of the SDPO Car Nicobar, I/c PS Car Nicobar, and village head man Shri D.N. Benedict of Kakana Village. Various civic and safety issues, including those related to women and child protection, were addressed.

The Superintendent of Police also conducted an awareness session on drug abuse, sensitizing the public to its harmful impact on youth and society. He urged residents to report drug-related activities confidentially and assured prompt police action. He further emphasized the importance of promptly reporting any illegal activities or the discovery of suspicious parcels, bags, or containers to the police, as such items could potentially be linked to criminal activities, including drug trafficking or smuggling.

Furthermore, the Superintendent of Police also briefed the villagers about the evacuation route to be followed during a disaster or tsunami and instructed them to move towards higher ground or elevated areas.

The Nicobar District Police remain committed to community engagement, with a strong focus on combating drug abuse and safeguarding children under the POCSO Act.
