Bakultala, March 17: To curb the menace of illicit liquor in the region, a jungle search operation was conducted on 16.03.2026 in the Shyamkund jungle area by a police team led by HC Pradeep Bairagi, I/C OP Bakultala, along with HC(SG) P.M. Topno, HG(R) Swapan Biswas, HGVs Harajit Bairagi and Sanjit Sikder as part of the ongoing drive against illegal liquor activities in the district.
During the search operation, the team recovered approximately 150 litres of illicit lehan concealed in the jungle area. The recovered lehan along with the bhatti materials used for distillation were destroyed on the spot as per due procedure, thereby preventing its use for the manufacture of illicit liquor.
N&MA District Police remain firm and uncompromising against illegal activities, including the manufacture and sale of illicit liquor. Continuous drives and strict enforcement measures are being carried out across the district to curb such unlawful practices and ensure peace, safety and public health in the community.
