T3 Camp Organised at Prothrapur Community Hall Under Anaemia Mukt Bharat Flagship Programme

Sri Vijaya Puram, May 27: A T3 (Test, Treat and Talk) camp was organized at Prothrapur Community Hall recently by Directorate of Health Services, Sri Vijaya Puram in coordination with District Health Society, South Andaman, UTHM.

Anaemia Mukt Bharat a flagship programme of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India was launched on 2018 with the target to reduced Anaemia in the vulnerable age group such as children, adolescent, women and reproductive age group, pregnant and lactating mothers through a life cycle approach.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Suja Antony, Director of Health Services, Dr. H. M Siddaraju, Joint Secretary (RCH-II), Smti. D. Radhika, Vice Chairperson, SVPMC, Dr. Shreelekha, ENT Specialist, Shri. B. Nagendran, District Programme Manager were present on the occasion.

While addressing the gathering, Dr. Suja Antony emphasized that Anaemia is a major public health problem, more than 50% of women of reproductive age group, adolescent girls are suffering from anaemia. The long term goal of Anaemia Mukt Bharat is to break the intergenerational cycle of anaemia. Dr. H.M Siddaraju while addressing the gathering said that dietary habits play a crucial role in development of iron deficiency anaemia and it is relatively easy to treat through dietary changes. Smt. D. Radhika encourage general public to take the benefit of camp.

In total 45 beneficiaries were screened, out of which, 11 severe and 17 moderate anaemic were detected. They were treated with Tab IFA and Tab Albendazole on the spot.
