
Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 7: The three-day meeting of the District Planning Committee of South Andaman District commenced today under the Chairmanship of Shri Prakash Adhikari, Chairperson, DPC (Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman) in the Conference Hall of the Zilla Parishad South Andaman. The meeting has been convened to deliberate upon the Three Years Action Plan 2026–2029 and the Supplementary Action Plan 2025–2026 in respect of the South Andaman District.
At the outset, Shri Azharuddin Zahiruddin Quazi, IAS, Chief Executive Officer (Ex-Officio Secretary DPC), Zilla Parishad, South Andaman welcomed the Chairperson, the Hon’ble Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Chairperson, SVPMC, Secretaries of the Planning/Finance and RD/PRIs (Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman) all Members of the DPC and other officers present. He briefed the members on the objectives of the DPC meeting and thereafter invited deliberations on the proposed Action Plans.
Shri Prakash Adhikari, Chairperson, DPC (SA), highlighted the overall purpose, vision and significance of the DPC meeting for coordinated district development.
The meeting was attended by Hon’ble Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS, Secretary (RD/Panch); Shri Aman Gupta, IAS, Secretary (Planning & Finance); Shri Shahul Hameed, Chairperson, SVPMC; Councillors of Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council, Members of Zilla Parishad; Pramukhs of all Panchayat Samitis and Senior Officers of the Administration.
During the proceedings, the draft 3 Years Action Plan for FY 2026–2029 and Supplementary Action Plan FY 2025–2026 of the Departments viz. Health, APWD, Electricity, District Administration, Agriculture, RD & PRIs, Shipping, Port Management Board and Industries were taken up for detailed discussion. Various recommendations and suggestions were put forth by the Chairperson, DPC, Hon’ble Member of Parliament and Members of the DPC SA for incorporation into the respective Plans of concerned Departments to ensure their timely implementation. The first day’s session concluded at 7.30 PM with vote of thanks.
