Sri Vijaya Puram, May 27: The Tourism Department is celebrating Island Coconut Festival 2025 with the theme ‘Celebrating Coconut – Culture, Cuisine & Crafts of the Islands’ at the ITF Pavilion, Sri Vijaya Puram along with allied Department/Associations on 30th & 31st May, 2025 from 4 pm to 9 pm.
The objective of the celebration is to promote coconut-based tourism and livelihoods, highlight traditional and modern uses of coconut in food, crafts, and wellness & also to create an immersive experience for tourists through activities, exhibitions and tasting zones.
As earlier announced, there will be stalls setup by Govt. Departments showcasing coconut-based items/objects deeply rooted in their culture traditions and economic practices.
The event would include competitions like Coconut Rangoli Competition, Coconut de-husking, Cooking competition based on coconut. Cash prizes to the winners would be awarded by the Tourism Department. Regarding Cooking competitions, participants are allowed to bring cooked food from home, made of coconut but garnishing, plating etc. will be done on the spot, on 30th May, 2025. The participants should report by 2 pm to the above official and those participating in coconut based Rangoli competition & De-husking competition should also reach by 2 pm on 30th May, 2025 and report to Dr. Rekha (Asst. Director, Agriculture Deptt.) – 9434273939 & Shri Navashakti (Asst. Director, Extension, Agriculture Deptt.) – 9474213525. The Tourism Department is also setting up a creative Kids Zones in association with Education Department. Interested kids have been advised to report on 30.05.2025 by 3 pm at ITF Ground near Stall No.21.
Applications for remaining Food Stall @Rs.4500/-, Stalls under General Category @ Rs.3500/- & Kiosk @Rs.450/- & Rs.400/- for 2 days have once again been invited from interested vendors for participation in the said event. The last date for receiving applications has now been extended till 29.05.2025 by 11 am.
