
Kanyapurm, March 25: A two-day Bee Keeping training program, organized by the Department of Agriculture, was successfully conducted in Gram Panchayat Kanyapuram on March 23, 2025. The objective of this training program was to provide villagers with new opportunities for self-employment and to promote bee keeping as a complementary activity alongside agriculture.
Representing the Department of Agriculture, Dr. Sahana Begum (Agriculture Officer), Mrs. Gayatri Singh (Agriculture Assistant), Mr. Hrithik Barai, and Mr. Ratiya Kindo (Agriculture Field Assistants) were present at the event. They provided detailed information regarding scientific methods of bee keeping, bee care, honey production, hive management, disease and pest control, and marketing strategies. Additionally, practical suggestions were offered to the participants to enable them to adopt bee keeping as a viable source of income.
During the training, participants were also briefed on bee keeping equipment, hive construction, and the process of honey harvesting. The officials explained that bee keeping not only boosts honey production but also enhances agricultural output through the process of crop pollination.
Also present on this occasion were the Pradhan (Head) of Gram Panchayat Kanyapuram, Mr. P. Abdul Basheer, along with Mr. Kutty Ahmed and Mrs. Reshma (PRI Members). Appreciating the initiative, they described the program as immensely beneficial for the villagers. A large number of villagers—including women and youth—participated in the event, demonstrating keen interest and deriving significant benefit from the training.
At the conclusion of the program, Pradhan Mr. P. Abdul Basheer extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Department of Agriculture and all the officials for this significant initiative. Encouraging the villagers, he urged them to make the most of such training programs to enhance their income and become self-reliant.
