
Car Nicobar, Nov. 30: The vibrant and culturally rich Carnic Festival 2025 concluded with great enthusiasm and resounding success at Edward Kutchat Park, Perka, Car Nicobar yesterday. The three-day celebration, held from 26th to 28th November, 2025, drew a large number of participants and visitors from across the region, proudly showcasing the spirit, heritage, and unity of the local community.
The festival was inaugurated in the presence of the chief guest, Shri Amit Kale, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, along with the guest of honour, Shri Rahul L. Nair, IPS, Superintendent of Police, and Shri Lionald Nicomede, Chairman, Tribal Council, Car Nicobar. The dignitaries visited the stalls, interacted with participants, and applauded the creativity, dedication, and efforts demonstrated by various departments and performers.
One of the major highlights of the event was the wide range of cultural competitions, including traditional and modern songs, energetic dance performances, and the highly anticipated Folk Dance and Group Dance competitions. Participants of all age groups showcased exceptional talent, adding colour, vibrancy, and cultural richness to the festival.
The exhibition arena remained a key attraction, featuring stalls put up by several Government Departments. These stalls were assessed based on creativity, public engagement, presentation, and relevance. 1st Position was bagged by Veterinary Department, Car Nicobar while 2nd Position was won by ICDS (TP) Department, Car Nicobar and 3rd Position by Industries Department, Car Nicobar.
Awards including trophies, certificates, and cash prizes were distributed to the winners of cultural competitions and exhibition stalls by the chief guest and other dignitaries. They congratulated the winners and appreciated all participants for their commitment to preserving and promoting local traditions and culture.
The Carnic Festival 2025 successfully served as a platform for cultural exchange, community participation, and recognition of local talent. It strengthened social harmony while celebrating the unique traditions, values, and creativity of the Nicobar Islands.
