Car Nicobar, Oct. 5: In a remarkable show of community commitment, Car Nicobar took an important step forward in transforming its education sector this week. On 3rd October 2025, a pivotal meeting was conducted by the Principal of the State Institute of Education (SIE) and her team, in close collaboration with the Education Office, Car Nicobar, at the Conference Hall of the Education Office. Bringing together leaders from both the education sector and the community, the gathering reflected a collective resolve to uplift educational standards across all local schools.
The session focused on several urgent challenges, such as student and teacher absenteeism, persistent reading gaps, and gaps in school infrastructure. Village Captains were called upon to support schools in finding practical solutions, resulting in a consensus to conduct fortnightly school visits and personally mentor academically weak students. The group also agreed on forming a WhatsApp group with all stakeholders to facilitate real-time attendance monitoring and quick interventions as needed. Additionally, the collaborative model will pair low-performing schools with high-achieving institutions, promoting peer learning and support across the system.
Shri Derick Jacob, 1st Captain of Kinyuka Village raised key concerns about the all-promotion policy, reading fluency gaps among a few students even in secondary grades, sparking calls for more targeted interventions. With strengthened community involvement and active educational leadership, the meeting concluded with a renewed pledge to drive sustainable, community-driven excellence in Car Nicobar’s educational landscape.
