
Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec. 1: The XXIV State School Games & 9th State Level Competition for CwSN concluded at the historic Netaji Stadium here this evening. Sri Vijaya Puram Zone lifted the coveted Overall Championship trophy, securing an impressive 25 Gold medals, while Car Nicobar and Rangat Zones finished in second and third positions respectively. In the CwSN category, Wimberlygunj Zone claimed the Overall Championship, demonstrating outstanding performance, while Sri Vijaya Puram and Rangat Zones secured the second and third positions in the medal tally.
The Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Education), A&N Administration, Ms. Chanchal Yadav, IAS was the chief guest on the concluding day of the Games. She also witnessed the 4X100mtrs Relay Race(boys) and 100mtrs sprint for Girl’s event and distributed the prizes to the winners.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Vikram Singh, Director (Education/Sports), congratulated all participants, trainers, and officials for their dedication and hard work. He reaffirmed the Administration’s commitment to promoting grassroots sports and strengthening inclusivity, while encouraging all zones to strive for even better performances in future editions. This year’s edition witnessed intense competition and exemplary sportsmanship from students across the nine zones. Several events went down to the wire as young athletes showcased exceptional grit, determination, and discipline. The tournament also saw the emergence of new champions, signalling a positive and progressive change in the sporting landscape of the Islands.
The Individual Championship for boys was jointly claimed by Mohammed Sinan of Wimberlygunj Zone and P. Pradosh Chinmay Raj of Sri Vijaya Puram Zone, both securing 15 points, resulting in two individual champions this time. In the Girls, Rinki Kumari of Sri Vijaya Puram Zone emerged as the Overall Individual Champion, showcasing consistent and commendable performance throughout the competition.

A significant highlight of this year’s Games was the remarkable improvement shown by several zones, many of which surpassed their previous performances. Their enhanced display of teamwork and sporting excellence underscored the strengthening culture of sports across the Union Territory.
The Children with Special Needs have taken part in the competition for the 9th consecutive year reflecting the Education Department’s unwavering commitment to inclusive & comprehensive Education. A colourful group dance was presented by the students of GSSS Haddo & GSSS School Line which was appreciated by one and all present in the Stadium. The grand event concluded with the distribution of individual and team championship trophies across various events to the deserving winners, followed by the ceremonial lowering of the flag, marking the formal close of this spectacular sporting event.
