Sri Vijaya Puram, July 19: The three-day Island Monsoon Food & Culture Festival–2026 (#MonsoonMagic2026), which transformed the ITF Ground into a vibrant celebration of India’s rich culinary traditions and diverse cultural heritage, concluded on a grand note this evening. Organised by the Department of Tourism, A&N Administration in collaboration with various line Departments, the festival drew enthusiastic gatherings of Islanders and tourists alike, offering an immersive experience of the cuisines, traditions and artistic expressions that thrive across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
As one of the flagship events featured in the Tourism Calendar of Fairs & Festivals, the Monsoon Food & Culture Festival has emerged as a unique platform that celebrates the Islands’ multicultural identity, promotes tourism and strengthens the spirit of unity through food, culture and shared traditions.
Visitors relished a wide range of traditional delicacies and regional specialties served at the food stalls, making the festival a true culinary delight. The lively atmosphere was further enhanced by captivating musical performances and colourful cultural programmes, creating memorable evenings for visitors of all age groups.
The concluding day witnessed a large Sunday turnout, with families, tourists, youth and children thronging the festival venue to savour authentic cuisines, explore exhibition stalls and enjoy the vibrant cultural extravaganza. The beautifully illuminated ITF Ground, pleasant monsoon weather and the aroma of freshly prepared delicacies created a festive ambience, while visitors enthusiastically interacted with exhibitors, sampled traditional dishes and captured memorable moments at the venue.
A vibrant lineup of cultural performances added colour and energy to the final evening of the festival. The programme commenced with a captivating presentation of contemporary and classical dance by Ms. Akhanya Sujith and the team of artistes from Natyanjali Classical Dance Academy, followed by the spirited presentation of ‘MY Bharat/Suron Ka Safar’ by Andaman Mahila Mandal. The audience was enthralled by the graceful traditional dance performed by the Karen Community, showcasing the unique cultural heritage of the Islands, followed by an elegant Odissi Nritya performance that reflected India’s rich classical dance tradition.
The cultural evening reached a lively crescendo with an energetic live performance by the artistes of Kalapani Band, who entertained the audience with popular Bollywood hit numbers. Visitors enthusiastically joined in by singing along, clapping and dancing to the lively tunes, bringing the festival to a joyful and memorable conclusion. The seamless blend of music, dance, cuisine and cultural traditions created a warm and festive atmosphere, making the final evening a fitting culmination of the three-day celebration and leaving visitors with cherished memories of the Island Monsoon Food & Culture Festival–2026.
