
Car Nicobar, Oct. 13: The 68th Raising Day of the Andaman Public Works Department (APWD) was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Priyadarshini Auditorium, Car Nicobar yesterday. The Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District, Shri Amit Kale, IAS as the chief guest of the function lauded the commendable efforts of APWD in executing and maintaining key development projects across the Nicobar District. During the event, the chief guest felicitated the best-performing employees of the Construction Division for their outstanding service.
Shri Rahul L. Nair, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District and Shri Martin Luther, Secretary, Tribal Council, Car Nicobar as the guests of honour distributed prizes to the winners of various sports and recreational events conducted as part of the Raising Day celebrations.
Earlier, the event commenced with a warm welcome address by Shri Akash Kishen, Executive Engineer, Construction Division, APWD, Car Nicobar highlighting the division’s vital role in restoring infrastructure after the 2004 tsunami and its continued contribution toward the development of roads, buildings, water supply, and port-related works in Car Nicobar.
The program also featured cultural performances by APWD staff members, reflecting the unity, talent, and enthusiasm of the Department.
