
Sri Vijaya Puram, May 22: The 7th State Level Football League-cum-Knockout Tournament for U-17 Boys kicked off today with great fervor at Netaji Stadium, Sri Vijaya Puram, celebrating the spirit of youth and sportsmanship. The event was inaugurated by Shri Vikram Singh, Director (Education), A&N Administration, who graced the ceremony as the chief guest and unveiled the championship trophy, officially declaring the tournament open in the presence of senior officers of the Education Department.
The tournament inaugurated today will continue upto 26th May 2025 across two venues i.e. Netaji Stadium and JNRM Football Ground. The winner school teams from different nine zones comprising talented young footballers from of these islands are participating in this prestigious tournament, showcasing their skills, discipline, and competitive spirit.
In his address, the chief guest appreciated the efforts of the Sports Section, Directorate of Education, for organizing the event and providing a platform for young athletes to excel and he also encouraged the participants to compete with true sportsmanship and make the most of this opportunity.
The winning school team of this tournament will have the honour of representing the Andaman & Nicobar Islands at the 64th Subroto Cup Football Championship 2025 to be held in New Delhi during August–September 2025.
The tournament continues tomorrow with more exciting matches. Football lovers have been invited to witness the enthusiasm and competitive zeal of the young athletes.
