Baratang, April 20: PS Baratang solved a blind hit-and-run case within five hours, apprehending the accused along with the offending vehicle, demonstrating prompt response and efficient investigation.
On 19/04/2026 at around 9:00 PM, information regarding a road traffic accident near South Creek was received at PS Baratang. A police team immediately reached the spot and shifted the injured person to PHC Baratang. The victim, Johnson Dung Dung of Amba Kona, had sustained grievous injuries, reportedly caused by a speeding vehicle that fled the scene.
Upon receipt of the information, an FIR was registered under relevant sections of BNS, 2023. A dedicated team led by SHO PS Baratang, comprising SI Subramani, ASI Muchray Munda, and other staff, launched an intensive overnight operation. Through sustained patrolling, tracking of vehicle movement from Middle Strait and Kadamtala, and analysis of CCTV footage, the suspect vehicle was identified. With swift follow-up, the accused was apprehended within five hours.
