Car Nicobar Claims Championship for Boys while Sri Vijaya Puram Wins the Girls’ Title

Sri Vijaya Puram, April 20: The VIII State Level League-cum-Knockout Football Tournament for U-17 Boys & Girls came to a thrilling conclusion today at Netaji Stadium. The Car Nicobar team claimed the championship title for Boys U-17 with a convincing 1-0 victory over Nancowrie, while Sri Vijaya Puram won the Girls U-17 title by defeating Nancowrie 15-0 in a highly anticipated grand finale.
With this victory, Car Nicobar (Boys) and Sri Vijaya Puram (Girls) have earned the honour of representing the Union Territory in the prestigious Subroto Cup Football Tournament. This is the first time the Girls team will participate in the Subroto Cup.

The grand finale began on a ceremonial note with the arrival of Shri L. Kumar, IAS, Secretary (Education), as the Chief Guest. In a dignified pre-match ritual, the captains of both teams introduced their players to the Chief Guest, who warmly interacted with the players and then ceremonially handed over the match ball to the main referee, officially signalling the start of the finale amidst applause from the crowd.
Earlier in the day, Campbell Bay (Boys) and Car Nicobar (Girls) secured third place after well-contested wins over their opponents. Shri Keshav Narendra Singh, DANICS, Director (Education), gave away the prizes to the winners, runners-up, and second runners-up teams and conveyed his best wishes to both winning teams for the Subroto Cup.
