
Diglipur, April 24: An awareness camp on career opportunities in the Territorial Army was conducted at PM SHRI Government Model Senior Secondary School Sitanagar on Thursday, with around 300 students from Classes IX to XII participating in the programme.
Major Deeptesh Bhawal and Subedar Trilochan Jena of the Territorial Army (154 Infantry Battalion, Bihar) addressed the students and highlighted various career avenues in the Territorial Army. They emphasized its significant role during natural disasters, where personnel actively contribute to rescue and relief operations.
Citing examples, Major Bhawal referred to Olympian Neeraj Chopra and former Indian cricket captain M. S. Dhoni, who are associated with the Territorial Army, and noted that wearing the Army uniform instills a deep sense of pride and commitment to the nation.
Subedar Jena informed that a social media group would be created for senior students aspiring to join the Armed Forces, through which they would receive regular updates and guidance on career opportunities.
Principal Balbir Singh appreciated the Army officials for reaching out to students in the remote region of Diglipur and providing valuable insights into the functioning of the Armed Forces. He encouraged students to consider joining the Army as a noble form of service to the nation.
He also highlighted the achievement of two girl students of class XII of the School, Yasmin and Trisha, who qualified for the regional level of the National Army Quiz and represented the Islands at the event held in Lucknow in February this year.
